FULL

R&D - a verbatim, recorded delivery play based on interviews with food bank employees, volunteers, and ex-users

13 - 24 May 2024

"FULL" is a 6 -month interview led community theatre project that amplifies the voices and stories of food bank employees & volunteers, and users in London.

Over 6 months, we interviewed food bank employees & volunteers - recording their personal stories, challenges, and triumphs. These stories have been crafted into a recorded delivery piece that combines the power of theatre with the authenticity of real-life experiences to cast a spotlight on the experiences and resilience of those connected to The Hive food bank.

Alongside the project we have run workshops for the local community where they were paid to attend - this included sessions on Movement, Acting, and Writing.

Lead artist Lizzie Clarke:

Lizzie is a London-based working class actor, screenwriter and BÉZNĂ Theatre associate. In 2018 she participated in interviews with refugees & people seeking asylum for the show ILLEGALISED, which she later acted in (2019). She witnessed first hand the great impact work based on interviews had on audiences & on the people who inspired it. During lockdown Lizzie volunteered at a food bank run by St Mary’s Church Hornsey Rise where she met a wide range of people in need of support & willing to help others. This experience inspired Lizzie to start creating FULL.

This has been made possible with the support of Arts Council England & Friends of Drama Centre (in memory of Aaron Harris)
