The Planet as a Consumer Good
April - May 2017
In April - May 2017 we led a climate change awareness workshop at the Benjamin Franklin highschool in Bucharest as a precursor a co-production between BÉZNĂ Theatre and Centrul de Teatru Educational Replika, VINOVAT,-Ă, which premiered in March 2018.
Together with a group of 15 year-olds we explored the main causes of climate change, delved into the idea of communal responsibility for the impending disasters and painted a clear picture of what the world will look like once global warming reaches 2, 3, 4 and 5 °C respectively. We found that the first to be affected by the impending natural disasters, poverty, and famine will be the most vulnerable in our society - those who have contributed least to the human-caused climate changes. Furthermore, we anticipate that future climate refugees will become the new scapegoats for governments and corporations seeking to evade responsibility.
Facilitators: Sînziana Cojocărescu and Nico Vaccari.
